“The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) Foundation is pleased to once again host the Transforming Lives Awards (TLA), our celebration of the resiliency of the human spirit and the remarkable power of hope.
On June 6th, 2012, business leaders, government officials and other CAMH supporters will come together to honour extraordinary people who face their personal challenges of living with mental illness, addiction, or both, with inspiring dignity and perseverance.
Still, TLA is more than just a fundraising event. It’s also a bold step towards conquering stigma. More than 100 award nominations will be submitted to us from across the province. Some will come from CAMH’s health care teams and mental health agencies, others from family members, friends, even neighbours. Every nomination tells a compelling story that sheds light on the perils of mental illness and addiction, and the power of hope, healing and recovery. By telling their stories, award nominees help fight stigma: by celebrating their courageous journeys we join the fight.
We’re looking for inspiring individuals who:
-
Face the challenges of living with mental illness and/or addiction with dignity and perseverance
-
Support others who struggle with mental illness and/or addiction
-
Help change attitudes about mental illness and/or addiction
-
Serve as models of hope and inspiration to others
A big thank you goes out to CAMH for recognizing that there are wonderful people in this world that care about others and want to do whatever they can to make others feel supported, informed and empowered. It’s not just about you and me it’s about all of us.
