The Power of Writing

I had the pleasure of doing a guest post at createwritenow.com. Earlier this year I took the 21 day journalling challenge and it invigorated my creativity mind, body and soul. So when Mari asked me to write a guest post about writing it was very easy to help share my passion for words with her audience. Here’s a peak at my post. Hope you enjoy it!

journaling: the power of writing

The Power of Writing

When I was a little girl I always had a pad of paper and pen in my hand. While at my grandmother’s   house on Sunday afternoons I would sneak away to the sun filled front room. While all of the adults were sitting in the kitchen, I would be frantically scribbling away at a new story. I distinctly remember wanting to put words on every page of my 250 page pad. The actual writing not only felt good but aesthetically it looked divine.

I kept a diary – of which I still have, and I chuckle each time I read what my young mind was pondering, hoping for or understanding. I wrote poems and even won a poetry contest a number of years ago. Writing has always been therapeutic for me. I have books of poetic works and stories that I’ve written years ago and then all of the sudden life got terribly hectic and there just wasn’t as much time for sitting and writing. Or so I thought.

Tranquility

I do what I do every day because it is what engages me, makes me whole, makes me feel euphoric body, mind and spirit. I will always be true to myself.
